Its still cold here in the Northeast, and there are only a few crocus in the yard, but Spring is here! time to paint the toenails, pack away the thick sweaters and scarves, and begin moving around outside a bit. After a winter curled up inside, warm heavy food, and long dark nights, it takes some effort to get going again. I must admit, I didn’t do any exercise at all this winter (unless you count the usual day-to-day running around, up & down stairs with grocery bags & laundry baskets, and being on my feet all day as a teacher as exercise…and I think it should count for something!) so I’m really looking forward to stretching my legs and walking again. Here is my interpretation of “Health at Every Size”, a magical Spring day when all the flowers burst into bloom and we take the opportunity to walk in the sunshine, for strength, fun and pleasure, rather than weight loss.
Health at Every Size (HAES), is an approach to health that focuses on intuitive eating and joyful physical activity rather than dieting and weight loss.
Health at Every Size, by Dr. Linda Bacon is a fabulous book on the topic of being happy, healthy, well-fed and fit no matter what size/weight your body is.
