I love to sleep, and I like the idea of fat dreams, all round and cuddly and squishy.
Not so fond of the fat daydream though…
The word fat is almost a curse word the way it’s thrown around.
Fat discrimination is real, including the bullying of children, workplace discrimination, distorted views of normal body shapes, and just plain nosy meddling by strangers (is she really going to eat that?)
With a fashion/media/diet industry that glorifies size 2 stars, and a food industry that creates high fat/high sugar concoctions loaded with artificially enhanced flavorings and chemical scents designed to make them as irresistible as drugs (an 1800 calorie ice cream sundae anyone?) it’s no surprise that the very idea of fat is a nightmare that interrupts the lives of almost every women in western culture.
This little illustration “Dreaming Fat” will be on screen for about a second in my work-in-progress YouTube animation to promote “More to Love”.
The voice-over narration is: “Do you think you’re fat? I bet you do! and I bet you don’t just think you’re fat, I bet you talk about it, obsess about it, dream about, worry about it, blog about it… ”
Here’s to sweeter dreams about becoming healthier & happier at whatever size your body is!
