We lead such busy, multi-tasking lives!
I earn my keep by teaching, and work on my art & writing whenever I can squeeze it in around the job, the housework, the garden and the family.
It’s been a wonderful break this summer to be able to focus on getting my More to Love out into the world, and get a head start on the illustrations for my next book. But on Sept 1st, I start another school year with over 100 students, and 6 different classes. I am spending the last weekend of summer shopping, cleaning, organizing and studying in preparation for a jam-packed 10 months of teaching all day and illustrating all night.
I’m tired just thinking about it…
but I bet your life is just as crazy and hectic and full!
If you are like me, you have female friends and family members of all sizes.
And I’m guessing that:
• Not a single one of them lounges around eating bon-bons all day.
• Not a single one of them looks like the women on TV, in the movies or in magazines.
• Each and every one of them is active and attractive, sassy and sexy in her own way.
• And every one works her little/medium/big butt off every day trying to get everything done.
Whether or not we make it to the gym or the yoga class,
it sure does feel like a workout by the time we crawl into bed at night!
It just doesn’t seem fair that on top of the zillion active things we women do all day/every day, we also have been led to believe that it’s possible, even expected, to work towards the extremely thin (yet buxom) ideal figure of a Barbie doll (or a video game heroine)
Why agonize over expectations driven by advertising and media?
Why not simply drop this belief ?
Lets open our eyes to the truth of the real lives we lead,
to the real women we know, to the bodies and faces we each live and love with.
Think of all that you do, all that are, all that you add to this world.
No matter what size you wear: You are amazing!
