I believe that you can be happy and healthy at every size.
It may take some practice convincing yourself this, especially if you’ve ever suffered an eating disorder or been on the roller-coaster of yo-yo dieting.
But I also believe that you can do everything at every size.
I am working on a new book with the theme:
Go out into the world and do all those things that you might be putting off until you:
1. lose weight
2. fit into your skinny jeans
3. otherwise meet some body size goal.
This new illustration (for my next book!) represents the concept of being adventurous, following your own path, doing something unexpected, going somewhere you might normally avoid, getting out of a rut.
Hiking in the mountains is just one form of adventure…
• What adventures can you bring your life, right now, whatever size, shape, age or level of fitness you are?
• What tiny, little thing can you do today that is adventurous for you?
• And… What are you waiting for?
PS: see the first rough sketch of my adventurous gal here.

people are sometimes surprised that I do triathlons. And DH completed a half ironman and runs marathons – all while being very overweight.
Beautiful illustration and great post Elizabeth. Loved every word.
I always love to read your posts and see your sketches. Both are so positive and uplifting.
I learnt that I can do anything when I bit the bullet and packed up and went to the US and Canada for 3 months. I'd wanted to do it all my life but always put it off until I lost weight. Told myself that would be my reward if I got "thin".
There came a point where I realised that I was missing out on life, so I jumped in and jetted off on my own and did it.
Kudos to you for promoting full, positive living for all women, regardless of body size.
Beautiful pictures and beautiful words..I need to remember…
I totally agree to all that you said. I am overweight too and I believe I can do all I want regardless.
Stopped from SITS by the way!!
HELLO EVERYONE! this is the first post on my new blog. what do you think?
I know there are quite a few bugs & broken links still, but I’m working on it…
I love, love, love your blog! You are very talented. (Found you through SITS, and soooooo glad I did!)
I did a 10k (6 mi) walk/run without any training ever, just for the fun of it and to see if I could do it. The only issue I had when I was done was that I was sore. That’s it! My heart had no problems with the walk/run.
Also the new blog is nice! I like how the header changes since you have tons of wonderful art.
Do you do comissions? I think I’d love to have a photo of myself cartoonized for my blog layout! (I can do the layout just not the drawing.)
Thanks so much for asking, but I don’t have time right now to do commissions! I think there are Photoshop filters that do a pretty good job of simplifying photos to flat, cartoonish colors, if you want to try it yourself.
Great new look to your website & Blog! I love it. So much wisdom, encouragement and good humor in one place is wonderful to find!
really dig the new layout- easier on the eyes and great layout…well done, EP!
*squeeeeee* i love your layout
SO AWESOME!!!!
Loving the new look blog Elizabeth. Always a joy to visit.
I really love that illustration with this post. So perfect!
I love it! I too have been on all sides of the size spectrum and I think whatever you do to encourage us to be happy with who we are no matter how we are it a good thing. Our value is not what we look like on the outside, but who we are on the inside.
Found you on SITS and happy I did.
Fabulously put! It should absolutely be more about health and less about dress size!
I love the message!
