Silly Question
Should I really hate myself
because of the size of my jeans?
© excerpt from “More to Love“
Many deep questions may haunt you in the middle of the night:
What is the meaning of life?
Who is my soul mate?
What happens when I die?
Then there is the endless stream of day-to-day concerns:
What’s for dinner?
Did I remember to pay the phone bill?
Where are my keys?
And if that wasn’t enough, serious global questions beg to be answered:
What about poverty, disease, pollution, wars, the economy?
But one of the silliest questions we ask ourselves, over and over, is:
“Do I look fat in this?”
Get a grip girl!
How many of the 6.5 BILLION people in the world actually care what size you wear?
Care whether or not you can fit into your “skinny jeans”?
Care if you hate your thighs?
Free! Bonus Follow-up Question:
And even if they do care, So What ? ! ?
Having higher self-esteem or a positive body image won’t
answer your deep questions, solve your daily problems, or change the world at large. But if you stop wasting time feeling bad about your butt,
you just might be able to answer the small questions
and think more deeply about the big ones.
And, oh by the way, according to an article by the Onion,
World Death Rate Holding Steady at 100 Percent
Do you think people will mention your dress size at your funeral?
The world population clock changes continuously!
How many people in the world don’t give a hoot about your weight ?

We do get pretty self-absorbed and narrow minded when we worry about something like that.
I love your site….short and sweet… gotta love it! i work in journalism…so I’m ALL ABOUT short and sweet…the bottom line. BTW…i was just thinking the other day…I need some new jeans!!
Something important to remember….When we die nobody is going to care what we looked like, but rather what we did with the time we had here.
Hi Elizabeth, I was happy to find your site through SITS. Thanks for reminding us there are more important things to worry about then how we look (even in jeans).
I tried on a pair of skinny jeans and my puffy knees looked horrible in them, who would’ve thought.
Bravo!!!
Hey, I say who cares as long as YOU like how they fit thats all that matters. If boot cut jeans makes you look hot, then do those kind of jeans. My motto is never sacrifice style for trends! Wear what is flattering to your body type, height, weight and bone structure, regardless of what other folks are doing.
I wish we could all sit down together and share some coffee (or wine) and remind ourselves to be strong! be beautiful! be healthy! be sexy! be smart! be funny! and that all these things come in all the sizes we are wearing, right now, today. thanks for the comments, you rock!
