I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart
for the kind words and positive comments you left on my blog during my featured SITS day!
It was an amazing bit of fate that my featured day happened this week, as it came along at a point where I really needed to hear your feedback.
The concept of “More to Love” developed after a lifetime of personal struggles with body image and eating disorders, all the while watching my students, friends and family members go through the same irrational and pointless struggles.
It took me 10 years to find the time to actually put together a book, and to find enough courage to make the commitment to put my work out in public. All my art has been created on nights, weekends, holidays, around a full-time job and a full-time family.
Lately I have been feeling quite discouraged (and very tired), and began to wonder how I could keep finding time and energy to continue writing and illustrating and blogging and connecting.
I’ve even been questioning whether or not the message I am delivering is something women actually want to hear. . .
And then a flock of angels (you!) stopped by to say hello!
I promise to stop by your blogs and personally thank you.
May your life be filled with love!

This is a wonderful blog! I love all the artwork for the plus size. Can’t help it but I want to see more! Thanks for sharing this.
Well, I am certainly glad the SITS girls gave us your blog to check out. It’s a great testament to all of us! Have a wonderful day! (((HUGS)))
I’m the glad the love yesterday reminded you that what you’re doing is important and is definitely a great message we all need to listen to!
I love your blog, and visit frequently, though I don’t always comment. What you have to say needs to be said! Thank you for doing it through beautiful art and positive words.
keep on keepin’on elizabeth! the world needs your positive message and your adorable way of illustrating it.
I’m glad you enjoyed your SITS Day! I’m one day late, but was interested in seeing your art. It’s beautiful and joyful! Best of luck with your work! ; )
I added you to my blog reader, I just love your art! Will you do a post ( or have you?) on how you get from sketch to computer? Or do you do it all on computer? It’s so fascinating to learn the artistic process (to me!) and I would love to learn more about yours.
Great work!
Mindy
Hi Mindy! I work from pencil scribbles to digital painting, and because so many people have asked me about my work, I made a little Flash slideshow that shows the steps. You can find it here http://moretolove.net/EPhow2.html
I forgot to mention yesterday that I love your new blog layout! It’s beautiful!
Thanks for visiting my blog on my SITS day!
I found you through SITS on your feature day and as a plus sized woman I was thrilled! I’m happy to be a new follower and look forward to reading all of your posts!
Thanks for talking about the struggle with loving the body. I’ve also battled all my life to accept myself. I come from a yoga world that leans toward Gandhi body types, so my Buddha body type can relate to your blog! Thanks for the respect.
You deserve it!
I’m so glad that I found you yesterday, through SITS! I know you write a lot about accepting ourselves no matter what our size, but have you written anything about getting others to accept us?
After many frustrating years of trying to control how other people reacted to me (my parents, my kids, my ex, my boss, etc) I have come to believe that the only thing to work on is self-acceptance. Its an interesting topic, Leslie, and I’ll be thinking of how to answer this one!
I’m a bit late but I hope you had a great SITS day!
Elizabeth thank you coming by my blog and leaving that nice comment. I really appreciate it. I’m going to bookmark your blog and add you to my blogroll. I love your sense of humor, much deserved feature!!
Wow! Do you really create these drawings – like a new one to go with each post? That’s so awesome. I’m going to go and look at the martial arts girl post. See you on another page!
Hi Cheryl. Thank you and yes, all of the drawings ( and all of the writing) are mine. if you are interested in my working process I made a little Flash slide show here

I am so glad you are doing this,… your talents should not be wasted! I visited your blog for the first time yesterday, and I was in awe!
So glad that I found you through SITS, I’m really loving your blog!
I’m so glad we could help inspire you and keep you going! You do such beautiful work, it’d be a sin not to share it with the world!
I think you’re awesome! I weighed 200 pounds back in 2002 and went on WW and lost it. Since then it’s been a constant struggle because I love to eat but you know what I’ve learned? There are a WHOLE lot of people who are SUPPOSEDLY at “a healthy weight” who are far from healthy…either emotionally or physically. People who live on Subway sandwiches. People who obsess over a little fat on their thighs.
I remember a friend telling me she didn’t go to her h.s. reunion because she’d gained weight. She was hoping to lose weight in time but she didn’t, so she stayed home. I blogged about it because it reminded me how many of us live in the future. We say, “I’ll do that when I’m thin.” “I’ll wear that when I lose some weight.” Meanwhile, we aren’t LIVING. How about being happy with who we are NOW?
Thanks Stephanie. I couldn’t agree with you more! How sad it is to postpone living/doing/being until the magical day when we are “perfect”, which we have been taught is thin (and young and tall and blonde…but that’s another issue!)
I’m so glad you got the encouragement you needed! You really do have a lot of talent and the message you’re spreading is so important and valid. I hope you find the energy to keep going!
You are so funny and creative, and I really like your art work. I am so happy that the SITS girls were able to encourage you!
Hi, I’ve awarded you the Beautiful Blogger Award! Please stop by my blog CoconutPalmDesigns to pick it up.

You are quite the lady! Thanks for stopping by today to anonymous8 and for providing a thank you note in the form of a post. So, back atcha!!! Also, I wanted to let you know that I am supposed to be on a diet, but every time I use the word diet, I head for the fridge, so I’ve decided to stop dieting, and start living a little more moderately!

Yay, glad you’ve been cheered up then!
Persist. You do good work and you do important work.
Your comments are all so touching and so encouraging! I hope one of my drawings, or something I write, returns the favor to all of you.
Just stopping by from SITS- missed your day (I just found sits the day before yesterday), but glad I found you today!
Well, I suspect plenty of us will come back time & again to hear what you have to say – and to see your amazing art
This is not what i expected at all when I clicked on the link on SITS. What a lovely surprise. I love how your illustrations are not pretentious and just capture one moment in a woman’s everyday life but that moment tells us so much.
What medium do you use to create this art?
Hi Lucy! Thanks. I start with a scribble, which sometimes evolves into a rough sketch, which I then re-trace several times until I get it right. I scan the sketches and add the color digitally. Here is a little slide show I made that shows my process
