How many of you spend every single day rushing around trying to get everything finished?
The housework, the yardwork, the shopping, the cooking, the organizing, plus if you have children or pets…
all the extra work that goes into caring for them!
And some of you might even have to take work home on the weekend too.
If you are anything like me, I have a hard time just sitting and relaxing when I know there is a long list of things waiting for me to do.
Finding time for yourself, even on the perfect lazy summer afternoon, seems like an impossible dream to many women.
Well, I hereby give you permission to take a few hours and
indulge yourself in the pure pleasure of just being you.
Let go of all the “must do” and “should do” and “want to do”
for just a little while.
Summer is brief (hey, life is brief!)
and the world will not fall apart if you stop rushing around at full speed!
You, however, might fall apart if you don’t take the time to enjoy some of the small pleasures that summer holds:
bare feet in the grass, the sleepy lazy feeling of a hot day, day dreaming.
Don’t think about your job or your family,
your husband or boyfriend or best friend.
Don’t be concerned about your diet or your laundry or your bank account.
Stop obsessing about the past or worrying about the future.
Stop doing everything for everybody all the time.
It will all wait for you.
Be serene.
Know that this is your life, and you deserve to just BE.

Such a cute happy site. Love it have shared with some friends as well as twitter and FB. Thanks!
Great reminder, Elizabeth! I think I’ll go put my feet up and read a book now…

Love this! This line especially: the world will not fall apart if you stop rushing around at full speed!
It’s so true. Why is it so impossible to just stop and take a deep breath every now and then? This summer I really want to make it a point to enjoy life’s simple pleasures as often as possible.
Thanks for another great post!
Thank you Charlotte, Beverly, Leslie, Kathy, Carol, and Dana for taking the time to comment. I also need to remind myself to slow down and appreciate the moment, rather than always try to cross another thing off my list. Summer is the perfect time to literally “stop & smell the roses”!
stopping by from SITS and so true to enjoy the roses
I have to admit that I take time for myself almost every day! I think it certainly makes me a much happier person.
